William Gibson, the cyberpunk-ish writer of Neuromancer fame, came to Palo Alto for a book signing. Of course, many a geek, including myself and a couple of friends decided to attend. He is an interesting guy - he obviously likes to write, and likes to write in a futuristic techie setting, but is not enamored with technology and prefers to keep it limited in his everyday life. In fact, he was surprised / amused when I asked him to sign the case of my Palm Pilot personal organizer, and then my friends proceeded to get their PowerBooks signed by him.
